Turkish security forces found 250 kilograms of explosives on Saturday in anti-terror operations carried out in the eastern province of Tunceli, the office of the governorate announced.
A statement issued by the Tunceli Governorate said, "The security forces detected 250 kilograms of handmade explosives which were hidden under the ground in massive holes dug by PKK terrorists during search operations on the Tunceli-Pulumur highway."
The explosives were destroyed at the scene by gendarmerie special operation forces while air supported operations in the region still continue to search for PKK terrorists.
The PKK is recognised as a terrorist organisation by Turkey, the US, EU and UK.
Over 130 security officials and more than 30 civilians have been killed in PKK terror attacks since the PKK’s umbrella organisation the KCK unilaterally ended a two-year-long ceasefire with the Turkish Government on July 11.
