Three Turkish soldiers were reported killed after being hit by lightning strikes during an operation against terrorists in the rural Daglica region of Turkey's southeastern Hakkari province on Thursday, Turkish media outlets stated.

According to reports, six other soldiers of the Special Gendarmerie Operations Unit were also injured and transported to Hakkari State Hospital by helicopters.

The soldiers are in stable condition, officials stated.

In the on-going battle with PKK terrorists, Hakkari is one of the provinces that has suffered the most in terror attacks between Turkish security officers and PKK terrorists. The PKK started their terror attacks on Turkish officers on July 11, when their umbrella organisation, KCK, unilaterally ended over two-year-long ceasefire with the government.

Since then, 34 out of the 148 security officers were martyred by PKK terrorists in Hakkari.
