Nine police officers injured in southeastern Turkey

Nine police officers wounded in attacks and four other people kidnapped in southeastern provinces of Turkey

Seven police officers were wounded in Bismil district of Diyarbakir province late on Friday when unidentified men threw improvised explosives into the garden of district’s police headquarters.

The police forces fired shoots back on the assailants who escaped along streets.

Seven wounded police officers were taken under treatment in Bismil public hospital and their condition is said to be good.

Operation is underway to find the attackers.

In another incident, two police officers injured, one of them seriously, in bomb attack carried out in Semdinli district of Turkey’s eastern Hakkari province when improvised explosives were thrown at them. The officers were taken under treatment in two different hospitals.

Police officer Vedat Kaya, who is normally stationed in Istanbul, was kidnapped by the members of the outlawed PKK. on the way between Diyarbakir and Bingol provinces while he was travelling for a family visit. His wife and child were released by the kidnappers.

A large-scaled operation has been conducted in the region.

On Friday evening one ambulance and three health officers were kidnapped in eastern Erzurum province of Turkey by four gunmen who lured them with a false emergency call.

Security forces have launched operation in the region to find the runaway gunmen.
