An armed terror attack on a civilian house in southeastern Mardin killed one person on Tuesday night while a recent terror attack targeting village guards killed one guard in the district of Silopi in Sirnak Province.

In a PKK terror attack on a civilian home in the Omerli district of Mardin by PKK terrorists, 50 year old Mahmut Kanat was killed and his son Ali Kanat was injured.

Police are still looking for the PKK terrorists who conducted the attack.

The Terror attack in Sirnak’s Silopi was aimed at a village guard who was also the headman of Vatan neighborhood, Osman Inal, and Cumhuriyet neighborhood headman, Lezgin Yagiz, who were out to do holiday shopping for Eid al-Adha with their families a few days ago.

The attack was carried out with silenced guns according to witnesses. It killed Inal and heavily injured Yagiz.

Following the PKK attack, police launched a large scale operation to seize the militants.

Village guards, locals in eastern and southeastern Turkey who help Turkish security forces against the PKK, have risen in number since it unilaterally ended its ceasefire with the Turkish state on July 11.

Since then, 121 security officers and over 30 civilians have been killed by the PKK in terror attacks.

On Tuesday evening, a civilian car traveling on the Tunceli-Erzincan highway was raided by PKK terrorists who blocked the road to identify its passengers and propagandise for the PKK.

The vehicle's driver did not want to stop and attempted to drive on, after which the vehicle was attacked.

In the incident, 52 year old Ismail M. was injured on his back and was taken to hospital in Erzincan by others in the car.
