PKK terrorists injured a police officer as they opened fire with long range weapons at a police vehicle on Tuesday in Turkey’s eastern Siirt province, security officials said.

According to police reports, police officers patrolling the Afetevler neighbourhood in an armored vehicle were attacked with long barreled weapons by PKK terrorists when the police officer was injured.

The security officers fired back, eliminating one terrorist and detaining another.

The injured officer was taken to Siirt State Hospital for treatment and it has been confirmed that he is not suffering any life threatening wounds.

Security officers took extra measures in the area.

PKK terror attacks have killed 148 security officials and over 30 civilians in Turkey since the group’s umbrella organisation, the KCK, unilaterally ended a two and a half-year-long ceasefire with the government on July 11 and threatened Turkey with attacks.
