A police officer, who was wounded in an exchange of fire in southeastern Turkey on Tuesday, has died, official sources said.

According to the sources, Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) members opened fire on a police car in Batman province resulting in an exchange of fire which also killed a militant.

Police captured another member, and were looking for another suspect involved in the incident.

More than 60 Turkish police personnel and soldiers have lost their lives in renewed violence between the Turkish state and the PKK since late June.
