Eleven people immediately died and eight others were injured on Thursday when a public bus hit civilians waiting at a bus stop in Cebeci district of Turkey’s capital Ankara.
Turkish media has reported that another civilian has also died from heavy wounds following the incident making the death toll stand at a total of twelve for now.
The driver lost control of the bus when the brakes failed to respond, according to reports.
Turkish media reported that after hitting the civilians the bus proceeded by colliding with parked cars before it came to a stop 60 metres after the bus stop.
Several ambulances and fire brigade were dispatched to the scene.
Speaking after the incident, Ankara Governor Mehmet Kiliclar confirmed that 11 people have died and eight others were injured.
