Turkish media has reported that a bomb-laden truck belonging to the Democratic Regions Party (DBP) municipality of Dargecit district has been neutralised by security forces in Turkey's southeastern Mardin province.

Currently, the district authorities have been enforcing a curfew, during which special law enforcement units conduct operations against outlawed PKK affiliated militants who blocked a road using a Dargecit municipality truck.

PKK is recognised as a terrorist organisation by Turkey, the US, EU, and NATO.

The truck was also booby trapped by militants according to media accounts. The special forces seized the truck and exploded it through smooth blasting, following a thorough inspection by the bomb disposal experts on the vehicle, media reports stated.

The media reported, referring to the security source,s that the truck has been booby trapped by the PKK terrorists to attack security forces.

The PKK’s umbrella organisation, the Group of Communities in Kurdistan (KCK), issued a statement on July 11 declaring that its truce with the Turkish government has ended and threatened Turkey with further attacks after Turkey’s general election on June 7, in which HDP entered the parliament as a political party passing the 10 percent election threshold for the first time.

Turkey has been targeted with increasing terror attacks by ISIS and PKK terrorist groups in its southeastern and eastern regions since a suicide bombing, widely thought to have been carried out by ISIS, in Suruc district of the Sanliurfa province, which claimed 34 lives on July 20 following the KCK declaration.

Outlawed PKK has particularly increased its attacks on both police and the Turkish Armed Forces following the Suruc suicide bombing. Over 135 Turkish security officials and over 30 civilians have been killed in militant attacks by PKK and ISIS since the bombing.

In another incident, Van Police Department announced in late August that the police forces seized 100 kilograms of ammonium nitrate, 26 detonators and 20 large batteries that were used in making bombs, from a truck owned by the HDP Van municipality which is located in eastern Turkey.

DBP is an offspring of the Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) which is predecessor to both DBP and HDP. DBP has usually organised at district levels while HDP has mostly been politically active at provincial and national levels, representing the aims of the party on the grand political scene.

Turkish media has previously reported that 93 DBP municipalities were allegedly being investigated by Turkish authorities over supporting PKK terrorists, by means of procuring construction equipment and personnel, employing PKK-linked staff, giving arms, and helping them escape from security forces.

The mayor of the Edremit district in the eastern Turkey's Van province was arrested in late August over charges of disrupting unity and territorial integrity of the state.

Mayor Sevil Rojbin Cetin - a member of HDP - who is alleged to have an association with PKK terrorist group, was detained along with an employee at the district municipality as part of an investigation launched by the Chief Prosecution Office of Van.

Cetin was arrested by the court over the mentioned charges, while the municipality employee was released on condition of judicial controls.

Hakkari Co-Mayors Dilek Hatipoglu and Nurullah Ciftci - also HDP members - were arrested after standing trial over threatening the unity of the state on August 23.

In addition, mayors of Sur and Silvan districts of Turkey's southeastern Diyarbakir province were arrested on August 23 after making declarations regarding “autonomy” after which the Chief Prosecution Office of Diyarbakir launched an investigation.

Sur district Mayor Seyid Narin and Silvan district Mayor Yuksel Bodakci were arrested with charges of disrupting the unity and territorial integrity of the state along with five other DBP members.

Engin Dursun, the Eleskirt district chair in Turkey's eastern Agri province from the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP), was also caught in the act, while driving two militants to outlawed PKK by security officers and arrested in late August.
