Turkish security forces detained 15 suspects, including seniors from the People’s Democratic Party (HDP) over aiding and abetting PKK terrorist organisation on Tuesday in Sarikamis and Selim districts of eastern Kars province.
Officials reported that the investigation in connection to the suspects still continues.
Meanwhile, security forces maintained operations against PKK and its youth wing YDG-H in the Nusaybin district of southeastern Mardin province.
The operations were launched on Nov.13 along with a curfew announcement to cover the trenches on the streets dug up by PKK terrorists.
Authorities said that they determined there are a total number of 250 trenches and road barricades in the district and terrorists placed bombs at 120 locations, using 5 tonnes of explosives.
Accordingly, security forces are continuing to destroy the explosives with controlled detonations and taking strict safety measures to protect the civilians in the region.
Increasing terror attacks by PKK, which is listed as a terror organisation by Turkey, US and EU have been causing disruption of the social order in several eastern and southeastern provinces of Turkey.
Furthermore, PKK terror attacks have killed over 150 security officials and over 30 civilians since PKK’s umbrella organisation, KCK, unilaterally ended a two-year-long ceasefire with the government on July 11.
