PKK terrorists set the roof of Resha Medical Vocational high school on fire during an anti-terror operation in the Cizre district of Sirnak, southeastern province of Turkey, on December 17, 2015.

One soldier died and another one was wounded on Friday in a counter-terror operation against the PKK in southeastern Turkey, the Turkish General Staff has said.

The incident took place in the town of Cizre in Turkey's southeastern Sirnak province.

The wounded soldier is still in hospital, the Turkish General Staff said in a statement.

The PKK - considered to be a terrorist organisation by Turkey, the US, and the EU - resumed its 30-year armed campaign against the Turkish state in late July.

Since then, official figures suggest more than 200 members of the security forces have died and over 1,700 PKK terrorists have been killed in operations across Turkey and northern Iraq.
