Syrian people who have personal cars with Syrian plates have been given temporary plates from Turkey, according to a new highway traffic regulation.

More than 2,000 temporary plates have been distributed in Gaziantep since the regulation was first enacted.

However figures regarding other provinces have not yet been provided.

In order to be given temporary plates, Syrians must apply to police departments with their old plates and the necessary documents.

Police officers speaking Arabic assist Syrian refugees during the process.

Syrian cars without temporary plates will be banned from the roads after July 31.
