Turkey’s inflation rises 0.56 percent

Clothing and footwear prices increase 10.6 percent, pushing year-end inflation to 8.09 percent

Turkey’s May inflation rose 0.56 percent month-on-month, pushing the annual rate of inflation up to 8.09 percent, according to data from TurkStat.

It was predicted that the consumer price index would increase 0.61 percent from April and the year-end inflation would be 7.24 percent on average, according to a survey conducted by Anadolu Agency on June 1 with 19 economists.

According to the figures, clothing and footwear segment marked the highest increase with 10.6 percent while food and non-alcholic beverage prices fell most with 2.68 percent in May.
