Police forces detained 23 suspects during simultaneous anti terror operations against DAESH terrorist organisation on Friday in Turkey’s Mersin province.
The operations were carried out in several districts of Mersin, including Tarsus and Anamur.
Security forces also seized several weapons during the search of the addresses of suspects.
The interrogations of the suspects reportedly continue.
Turkey witnessed several terror attacks linked to DAESH in the country.
Most recently, a DAESH suicide bombing killed 10 civilians and injured 15 others on Tuesday in the Fatih region of Istanbul.
Moreover, in October 2015, 103 people were killed in a twin suicide bomb attack in capital Ankara while in another attack 34 people were killed in a blast in the Suruc district of Turkey's southeastern province of Sanliurfa, which borders Syria, on July 20, 2015.
Ankara has been conducting comprehensive terror operations to capture DAESH terrorists within the country.
