Turkish security forces reported on Saturday that one soldier died during ongoing clashes with PKK terrorists in Sur district of Diyarbakir.
Another soldier was also taken to a hospital after being injured by the terrorists.
The paramedics were not be able to immediately reach the injured soldier due to the armed clashes between the security forces and the terrorists.
Officials said that the operations to capture the PKK terrorists and to remove road barricades are still continuing.
Meanwhile, the TurkisArmy announced on its official website that ‘A total number of 69 terrorists were neutralized during ongoing operations in Sirnak province.’
The army also said that several weapons and a great deal of ammunition belonging to the terrorist group were seized in southeastern provinces of Van and Sirnak.
The PKK is listed as a terrorist organisation by Turkey, the US and the EU.
Since the PKK’s umbrella organisation, the KCK, unilaterally ended a two-year-long ceasefire with the Turkish government on July 11, almost 200 security officers and over 30 civilians have died as a result of PKK terror attacks.
