Turkish security forces patrolling roads in the southeastern part of Turkey

Turkish General Staff (TSK), announced on Saturday that a specialist gendarme was injured in an armed terror attack by the outlawed PKK, in the southeastern province of Diyarbakir.

In the meantime, at least 55 PKK terrorists were killed overnight on Saturday when Turkish fighter jets hit the camps of outlawed PKK in northern Iraq.

The Turkish fighter jets reportedly took off from a base in Diyarbakir, in Turkey's southeast, and returned later after a successful operation.

The announcement by TSK also said that 3 PKK terrorists were found dead with various weapons during an operation in Turkey’s eastern province Tunceli on Friday.

The security forces also seized 60 kilograms of ammonium nitrate, 10 propane cylinders, two explosive devices fixed to 360 kilograms of explosives, two handheld radios, batteries and cables during the operation.

In a separate operation, four tonnes of explosives belonging to PKK were seized by special operations forces.

During a search, Turkish soldiers also detected two bombs weighing a total of 400 kilograms, which had been placed under a road by PKK terrorists.

Another PKK terrorist was found dead with his weapons in southeastern province of Batman on Friday.

In an operation launched in Varto district of Mus province, one injured PKK terrorist and a great deal of ammunition, along with several documents belonging to the outlawed group were seized.

The PKK terrorists destroyed a bridge using improvised explosive devices in Turkey’s southeastern province Hakkari on Saturday.

Upon the incident, the local people gathered to open the bridge to traffic by filling the damaged abutment of the bridge with stones.

A total of three PKK terrorists surrendered to security forces in Diyarbakir and Mardin on Friday.

Five districts in Mardin announced as safety zones

The governorate of Mardin announced on Friday that districts of Midyat, Mazidagi, Savur, Dargecit and Nusaybin as safety zones for a period of six months.

The announcement by the governorate, stated that the escalating terror attacks of the outlawed PKK affected the social and economic developments in the province to a great extent, Mardin governorate also announced that the necessary measurements have been taken to provide security and safety for the citizens.

The citizens were informed about the special safety zones in the province via announcement by the governorate.
