Who IS The Threat to Democracy?
Britain’s prime minister Rishi Sunak stood outside of Downing Street and warned that democracy is under attack - and that elements within British society are trying to destroy the country. He was responding to a series of pro-Palestinian protests, including some outside MPs homes and at local council meetings. He was also disturbed at George Galloway’s by-election win in Rochdale amid claims of political intimidation. This week Nexus speaks to former UK government advisor Claire Pearsall and journalist Thomas Fazi about whether Sunak is over-reacting, and we ask former Met police officers Peter Bleksley and Leroy Logan whether modern police are doing enough to keep protests from spiralling out of control.
