For many they are a nuisance, but for some in Turkey, pigeons are more than just companions. They are a way to earn a very lucrative living.

Pigeon racing is taking off in Istanbul, and some people have had great success breeding and racing them – and making money as well.

TRT World's Flora Bradley-Watson went down to a local "pigeon market" to find out what makes a bird worth big bucks.
