European natural gas futures surged about 25% to above €68 (~$78) per MWh on March 18, their highest level in over three years, as Iran’s attacks on key Gulf energy infrastructure followed an Israeli strike on its South Pars gas field. Among the targets, Tehran struck Qatar’s Ras Laffan, home to the world’s largest LNG export facility, fuelling global supply fears.
