Bird flu-plagued South Korea imports eggs from US to tackle shortage

The import comes ahead of Lunar New Year holiday season when South Koreans cook traditional dishes that require the use of eggs.

South Korea has received its first shipment of eggs from the United States to help it tackle a nationwide shortage caused by a bird flu outbreak.

The country had to kill more than 20 million chickens after its worst-ever bird flu epidemic.
