Dr Tom Ryan is the head of Anthropology at the University of Waikato. He focuses on historical anthropology; cultural studies; mining and indigenous peoples; mythologies; work; Niue; Pacific Islands and Australia. His most recent research project is titled "Imaginaries of New Zealand Nationhood," an anthropological analysis of a multi-cultural society.
