2016: The deadliest year for refugees
The UN refugee agency says almost 4,000 refugees have died trying to cross the Mediterranean Sea, taking the crisis to new heights.
At least 600 children have reportedly died crossing the Mediterranean Sea this year.
2016 has seen almost 4,000 people die crossing the Mediterranean Sea, the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) said on Wednesday.
According to the UNHCR, some 3,771 refugee deaths in the Mediterranean were reported in 2015.
