A new type of barrier could prevent some vehicle attacks

An inventor in Belgium has created moveable barriers that he says could help prevent attacks terrorists carry out with ordinary vehicles.

A man in a rented pickup truck mowed down pedestrians and cyclists along the busy bike path near the World Trade Center memorial on Oct 31, killing at least eight and seriously injuring others in what the mayor called "a particularly cowardly act of terror."

In recent years, ordinary vehicles have become a weapon of choice for terrorists.

Beginning with a truck attack in Nice in July 2016, more than 220 people have been killed in vehicle attacks in Europe.

Now an inventor in Belgium says he's come up with a way to help prevent such attacks.
