Macedonia faces crisis as parliament comes under attack

Protesters stormed the parliament building and attacked MPs after they voted for an ethnic Albanian as the parliamentary speaker. Eight people have been arrested over the violence.

Macedonian police arrested eight people over Thursday's violence in parliament after protesters stormed the building and attacked MPs.

Lawmakers voted for an ethnic Albanian as the parliament speaker, but the move angered a group of nationalists who stormed into the chamber.

Around 77 people were injured including opposition leader Zoran Zaev and 22 police officers.
