Saudi-led coalition has released footage of strikes on Houthi militia positions in Yemen’s Hudaida and Dhamar provinces.
Authorities are investigating an incident reported in the Strait of Hormuz after the master of a merchant vessel relayed a Mayday call that another vessel had been struck by an unknown projectile, according to the UK Maritime Trade Operations agency.
The Saudi-led coalition has said that it intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile and a drone launched by the Houthi militia toward southern Saudi Arabia.
In two separate statements on X, coalition spokesperson Turki al-Maliki said air defences had intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile, followed by an announcement that a drone had also been shot down.
Both were launched by the Houthi militia toward the kingdom’s southern region, according to the statements.
Saudi civil defence has issued alerts, warning of potential danger in the Abha and Khamis Mushait areas of the country.
However, the authorities later said that the danger had passed.
Over 300,000 people have fled their homes in western Yemen because of intensifying fighting in the country, pitting the Houthi militia against government forces, the UN said.
Almost all were displaced in the last two months, and they "urgently need shelter, food, clean water and health care", the International Organization for Migration said in a statement.
The Saudi-led coalition has said that it carried out a military operation to “neutralise vital resources” used by the Houthi militia to support its war effort and strengthen its military capabilities, particularly ballistic missiles and drones.
Coalition spokesperson Turki al-Maliki said in a statement that the operation took place Sunday morning following continued Houthi militia attacks against civilians and civilian infrastructure in Yemen and Saudi Arabia.
The coalition’s joint forces command had monitored the Houthis’ “continued use of vital resources to support their war effort and bolster their military capabilities, especially ballistic missiles and drones,” he said.
Iran is rapidly strengthening its armed forces’ combat capabilities to enable them to respond “without geographical limits", Defence Minister Mehrdad Akhlaghi Ketabchi said.
Speaking to reporters, Akhlaghi said Iran was moving “resolutely” to enhance its armed forces’ smart combat capabilities under directives from Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei.
“We are rapidly increasing our armed forces’ combat capabilities to be able to respond without geographical limits,” he said.
Iran “will not be caught off guard, nor will we be stopped, and any type of attack will receive an appropriate, decisive and effective response,” he added.
Akhlaghi stressed that Iran “would not be surprised by threats, halted by pressure or dependent on the will of others in pursuing scientific and technological progress.”
Gaza's interior ministry says the five people killed in the strike were identified as police officers.

Qatar has strongly condemned an attack on the liquefied natural gas (LNG) tanker Al Mayeda while it was sailing in the Gulf, warning that the incident threatened maritime navigation and global energy supplies.
In a statement, the foreign ministry said the vessel belonged to Qatar Gas Transport Company, known as Nakilat.
The ministry described the attack as “a dangerous act that threatens the safety of maritime navigation and the security of global energy supplies.”
Qatar “reserves the right to take all necessary measures under international law and the UN Charter to protect its property, safeguard its interests and ensure the safety of its vessels and crews,” it said.
Yamaha has said it will not participate in next weekend's Qatar MotoGP, citing "the situation in the Middle East".
Yamaha stated in its statement that it would not be taking the risk of going to Qatar.
"Yamaha has not identified sufficient grounds to change its existing company-wide travel restrictions," the Japanese manufacturer said.
