A quick look at George Weah, Liberia's footballer-turned-president

Weah rode a wave of youth support to capture more than 60 percent of the vote in a run-off election in late December, despite allegations of electoral fraud.

Former Liberian football star George Weah will take office as the country's president on Monday. His appointment comes at a time when Liberia faces challenges including poverty, high unemployment and corruption. 

Weah, who is wildly popular among the young and the disfranchised, has promised to improve the lives of Liberians.
