Nigerian Muslims use Ramadan to bridge religious divide

Around half of Nigeria's 180 million people are Muslim while the other half is mostly Christian. But religious violence in recent years has strained relations between members of the two faiths.

Activities of militant groups like Boko Haram have led to some negative perceptions about Muslims in Nigeria.

But the Muslim community has not allowed itself to be distracted. Its members continue their outreach programmes across the country and are using Ramadan to bridge the religious divide between Muslims and Christians.
