Residents of besieged towns in Syria's Homs region desperate for food

An independent research group - The Syria Institute - says more than 200 thousand people have been trapped in the besieged communities of Hom's ever since.

Aid can't get in  - and people can't get out. That's the reality for tens of thousands of Syrians living in three towns north of Homs - in the country's west. 

They say -  their communities have been under siege for more than three years  - and they're almost starving to death.
