Mehmet Hakan Atilla, 48, the former deputy director general at Turkish state lender Halkbank, was released from prison in US last week after more than a year jail term over violation of US sanctions on Iran.
Turkish-Iranian businessman and key US government witness in its case against Halkbank executive Hakan Atilla also said the banker once refused to sign off on a transaction related to a fake sale of food to Iran as he was then unaware of the sham.
