On September 26, people will cast a ballot to decide whether to expropriate around 240,000 housing units of Germany’s biggest publicly listed landlords as the housing crisis deepens in Berlin.
The Parliament passed a motion last month seeking to change the constitution to allow land expropriation without compensation. President Ramaphosa has promised to speed up the transfer of land to black people.
The government said it had been necessary to force a decision on the issue to stop the premises from becoming a neo-Nazi shrine.
