The United Nations has warned that hunger across the Arab world has increased by 91.1 percent over the past two decades.
The new campaign plans to widen consumer knowledge of the benefits of reducing food waste and encourage the development of waste prevention habits, to help achieve profound and lasting changes in the way that people consume food.
The fever was first detected in China in early August and has been found in 18 farms or abattoirs in six provinces, with many cases more than a 1,000 km apart.
A UN-backed food security report said South Sudan is no longer classified as being in famine, although the situation is still critical and millions face food insecurity.
