The U-17 national basketball team of Qatar travelled to Turkey to play a few practice games for the Gulf Countries Cup after some countries refused to play against the team.
Led by Saudi Arabia, several states in the Middle East and Africa have severed ties with Qatar since June 5, accusing the gas-rich Gulf state of supporting terrorism and Iran. Qatar denies the allegations.
The US State Department on Tuesday says it's "mystified" that Gulf Arab states haven't released to the public or Qatar details of the grievances that prompted their boycott of the country.
The United Arab Emirates said Qatar needs to make "iron-clad" commitments to change policies on funding militants but not to change "its regime." Meanwhile, Turkey looks to fast-track a law to send more troops to the Qatar base.
The oil-dependent country has introduced a series of unpopular price hikes to boost non-oil revenues as crude prices dwindle.
