As the anniversary of last year's failed coup in Turkey draws near, TRT World tells the stories of heroism displayed on that day. One such story is that of Metin Dogan, who stood up to tanks at Istanbul's Ataturk Airport on July 15.
On July 15, the world closely followed the unfolding situation in Turkey. Some countries and international organisations were quicker to condemn the attempt than others, but eventually all issued messages of support for the government.

A remembrance ceremony was held outside the arrivals hall of Istanbul's Ataturk Airport to mark one year since the triple suicide bombing and gun attack that left 45 people dead.
The decision is taken four days after National Security Council, convened under President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, recommended the same.
