The Taliban is not desperate to get foreign funding going-- thanks to the unofficial revenue sources.
At least five provincial capitals have reportedly been captured by the Taliban during the past 48 hours as the insurgents intensify their offensive that was launched in May as foreign forces began the final stages of their withdrawal.
Nimroz police spokesperson says Taliban was able to capture Zaranj because of a lack of reinforcements from the government but the provincial council chief says though it is on the brink, it has not fallen as yet.
Taliban representatives said the militant group released three Indian engineers they had held captive. No confirmation from New Delhi and Afghan government as yet.
The 1,814-kilometre pipeline will take two years to complete and heavy security is expected to be provided during its construction.
