The US says it will "pursue" Russia's latest offer to discuss the prisoner swap involving detained basketball star Brittney Griner.
Washington has proposed an agreement to Moscow for the release of two American prisoners and hopes to follow up with Russia’s FM Lavrov, said US top diplomat Blinken.
Fifty-year-old Paul Whelan was detained in Moscow in December 2018 for allegedly receiving state secrets.
The development comes just days after a Russian citizen pleaded guilty to meddling in domestic politics in the United States.
