In addition to the San Jose galleon that was transporting gold, silver and precious stones to the Spanish court in the 18th century, two other vessels were discovered under the sea by Colombian naval officers.
Remains of shipwreck are part of country's archaeological heritage and cannot be handed over, Colombia's government says, meaning a Swiss company contracted to carry out the recovery cannot receive part of the treasure as payment.
