E-commerce giant Alibaba filled billions of dollars in orders during China's annual Singles Day shopping frenzy, the world's biggest 24-hour shopping event.
The spending binge has for years eclipsed Cyber Monday in the US for online purchases made on a single day. China's day is on November 11, or 'Singles' Day' since it's 11/11.
The organiser of the event, Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba, said the gross value of sales was nearing $20 billion by early Saturday evening in a count that started at midnight on Friday.
