Tesla stock fell 9 percent after Reuters news agency published Elon Musk's staff cut plan and Twitter said his acquisition had passed US antitrust review.
The Tesla CEO, with a net worth of around $300 billion, offloaded 4.5 million shares this week after asking his Twitter users if he should sell ten percent of his stake.
Musk's shareholding in Tesla comes to about 170.5 million shares as of June 30 and selling 10 percent of his stock would amount close to $21 billion.
