A stampede at an overcrowded Lag B’Omer religious festival in Israel killed at least 44 people and injured over 150. Thousands of people have died in recent years in stampedes. Many of the victims were pilgrims. Some panicked due to rumours of a suicide bombing, and others got stuck in a dark tunnel.
