Macron: The Putin Whisperer?

President Emmanuel Macron says it’s France’s role to be a ‘mediating power’ between Russia and Ukraine to end their conflict, and that France will ‘continue to have ties and possible discussions with Russia’. But his approach has been criticised by some Eastern European nations, who see it as undermining efforts to force Putin to the negotiating table.
