WAR ON DRUGS On the 17th of July 1971 - the US declared what has come to be known as the ''war on drugs''. Former President Richard Nixon declared drug abuse 'public enemy number one'. What would unfold over the next forty years was a trillion dollar battle against narcotics - that many say has now failed. Mexico and the US are fighting a battle that has turned parts of Mexico into a war zone and led to countless deaths and imprisonments. And the American prison community has swollen in size. Now the US and other countries appear to be shifting their approach to the so called war on drugs, marijuana has been legalised in several US states - but it remains controversial. GAME, SET AND MATCH-FIXING Novak Djokovich has denied 'absurd' allegations that he 'wanted to lose' a match at the Paris Masters in 2007. Tennis is the latest sport to be tarnished by the integrity brush after a joint investigation by the BBC and Buzfeed alleged that the sport failed to act on match fixing suspicions. The Newsmakers Yvette Mccullough has more. TOXIC WATER SCANDAL US President Barack Obama has promised the people of Flint, Michigan that he 'has their back'. The city's water has been poisoned with lead since 2014, when the government switched to a cheaper supplier. Obama has pledged more aid to the city, but the mayor and the people of Flint say their safety has been sidelined because of their race.
