Two Palestinian fishermen were injured on Monday after Israeli naval forces opened fire on their boat off the coast of Gaza City, according to a medical source and local reports.
The fishermen were working aboard a small fishing boat when Israeli naval vessels targeted them with gunfire and shells, the medical source told Anadolu.
One fisherman sustained moderate injuries while the other was lightly wounded, the source said.
The incident comes amid what Palestinian authorities describe as repeated Israeli violations of a ceasefire agreement that has been in effect in Gaza since October 10, 2025.
Fishermen face repeated attacks
Israeli naval forces have repeatedly opened fire on Palestinian fishing boats along Gaza’s coastline, according to Palestinian sources, with fishermen reporting deaths, injuries, arrests and damage to their boats.
The attacks have continued to affect fishermen relying on small boats to earn a living, following the destruction of large numbers of fishing vessels during Israel’s military assaults in Gaza.
In a separate development on Monday, Israeli fighter jets struck three homes near areas where Israeli forces are deployed in the Tuffah neighbourhood, northeast of Gaza City, according to local sources and eyewitnesses.
Several air strikes hit homes near the Sanafur junction, although no casualties were reported.
In southern Gaza, Israeli forces also shelled areas south of Khan Younis, while military vehicles opened heavy fire toward areas east of the city, according to local reports.
Gaza reports thousands killed since ceasefire deal
Gaza’s health ministry said on Sunday that Israeli violations of the ceasefire deal have killed 1,344 Palestinians and wounded 4,481 others since the agreement took effect.
The ministry says more than 73,000 Palestinians have been killed and over 174,000 injured in Gaza since October 2023, while around 90 percent of the besieged enclave’s infrastructure has been destroyed.
