Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has vowed that Ankara will continue its diplomatic efforts to guarantee Lebanon’s security, pledging to provide all possible assistance to foster peace and stability in the country.
The commitments were made during a meeting on Friday between President Erdogan and Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam in Istanbul, where the two leaders reviewed regional developments and discussed the future of bilateral relations.
Erdogan welcomed Salam with an official ceremony at the Vahdettin Mansion before the two leaders briefly viewed Istanbul's historic skyline from the pavilion.
They later held bilateral talks focused on Türkiye-Lebanon relations and regional developments.
"Türkiye values its relations with its brotherly country Lebanon," Erdogan said, adding that closer diplomatic engagement would be beneficial.
He reaffirmed Ankara's commitment to supporting Lebanon's security and stability, saying Türkiye would continue to provide "every possible support, including humanitarian assistance," according to Türkiye's Communications Directorate.
Erdogan also said stronger "good-neighbourly relations" between Lebanon and Syria would benefit the wider region.
"We are making every effort to further develop bilateral relations between Türkiye and Lebanon," he added.
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan also attended the meeting.
