Two women have filed a federal lawsuit against Jeffrey Epstein’s estate, alleging that photographs of them were found in his collection of child sexual abuse material, NBC News reported on Thursday.
The women, identified in court documents as Jane Doe and Amy, filed the proposed class-action lawsuit on Tuesday in the Southern District of New York.
They allege that “few if any” of the people whose photographs were in Epstein’s possession were told that the images had been obtained by federal investigators.
The lawsuit seeks unspecified damages and asks the court to establish and oversee a coordinated programme to identify and notify other women whose images were allegedly part of Epstein’s collection.
Lawsuit seeks notification programme
The complaint alleges that Epstein and unnamed associates maintained a vast collection of images over several decades. It also alleges that a “modelling book” containing sexualised images of children was kept in a locked safe.
According to the lawsuit, Epstein and unnamed co-conspirators claimed the images were intended for developing child models for Victoria’s Secret.
“This lawsuit holds Jeffrey Epstein’s estate accountable for a crime that has never been fully addressed on its own terms,” said Hillary Nappi, a lawyer with AWK Survivor Advocate Attorneys.
The lawsuit alleges that Epstein and his associates were involved in the possession, production and distribution of child sexual abuse material beginning in the early 1990s and continuing until his death in 2019.
Epstein estate defendants named
The lawsuit names Epstein’s estate co-executors, lawyer Darren Indyke and accountant Richard Khan, as defendants.
Their lawyer, Daniel Weiner, declined to comment, according to NBC News.
Epstein was arrested in 2019 and charged with federal sex trafficking offenses involving minors.
He died by suicide in a New York jail that August while awaiting trial.
No federal child pornography charges were filed against Epstein.
