Palestinians in Gaza held funeral prayers on Tuesday for 112 people whose bodies were recovered from beneath the rubble of homes destroyed during Israel's genocidal war on the enclave.
Thousands gathered in Gaza City's Sabra neighbourhood, where the bodies, draped in Palestinian flags, were placed near the ruins of the destroyed homes before the funeral procession, according to an Anadolu correspondent.
The victims were later buried at the Baptist Cemetery in the Zeitoun neighbourhood, south of Gaza City.
The victims belonged to the Al-Hasayneh and Abu Sharia families, who were killed when Israeli air strikes hit their homes on November 23 2023, while they were sheltering inside.
The funeral was one of the largest held in Gaza in recent years because of the high number of victims.
Bodies recovered
Civil defence teams recovered the bodies from the rubble on Saturday.
In a statement, Gaza's Civil Defence said the victims included 40 children, 38 women and seven people with disabilities.
Civil Defence official Mohammad Abu Dan said teams were still unable to recover the remains of 157 people believed to be trapped beneath the debris.
Since October 2023, Israel's genocidal war on Gaza has killed more than 73,000 Palestinians and wounded over 174,000, according to Palestinian authorities.
Despite a ceasefire that took effect on October 10 2025, Israeli attacks have continued across the enclave, killing 1,250 Palestinians and injuring 4,110 others, according to Gaza's Health Ministry.
Palestinian authorities estimate that around 9,500 people remain buried beneath the rubble of destroyed buildings across Gaza.
