Explosions have been reported across several parts of Iran as the US launched a fresh round of strikes against the country, according to Iranian media.
State broadcaster IRIB reported an explosion in Bandar Abbas, the capital of the southern Hormozgan province.
The semi-official Fars News Agency said explosions were heard over Qeshm Island and nearby waters, while another blast was reported in Sirik, also in Hormozgan.
Iran’s official IRNA news agency reported an explosion in Shiraz in southern Fars province.
It said 14 explosions were heard over the southeastern cities of Chabahar and Konarak in Sistan and Baluchestan province during the preceding hours.
The semi-official Mehr News Agency said air defence systems were heard operating near the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant in southern Iran.
Mehr also reported two explosions in the central city of Isfahan.
However, Iranian media later cited Isfahan province’s deputy governor for security and law enforcement as denying any hostile attack or explosion in the province.
There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage.
Meanwhile, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) said it launched a fresh round of strikes against Iran at the direction of the commander-in-chief, saying the operation was aimed at further degrading Iranian military capabilities used to attack commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
