Pro-Palestinian demonstrators gathered outside The New York Times headquarters in New York on Tuesday to protest the newspaper’s coverage of Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza and its occupation of Palestinian and Lebanese territories.
“New York Times, you are a liar,” demonstrators chanted outside the building entrance, accusing the publication of bias in its editorial coverage.
“Consent for genocide manufactured here,” a prominent banner held by the crowd read.
Demonstrators waving Palestinian flags and wearing keffiyehs distributed leaflets to passersby, while a drummer accompanied chants criticising the newspaper’s reporting.
Law enforcement maintained heightened security around the perimeter of the Manhattan building.
The New York Times had not publicly commented on the protest.
Israel launched its genocidal war on Gaza in October 2023 and continues to occupy Palestinian territories in the West Bank. In Lebanon, Israel currently maintains a self-declared “security zone” in the south, which Lebanon and the UN consider an occupation that violates the ceasefire framework.
