Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has chanted "Free Palestine" several times during a speech at a reception marking a school's 100th anniversary.

During the event on Saturday, Palestinian Ambassador to Indonesia Abdulfattah AK Al-Sattari presented Prabowo with a keffiyeh.

The Indonesian president returned to the podium after receiving it and was seen wiping his eyes with the scarf, according to state-run news agency Antara.

Prabowo then chanted "Free Palestine" several times.

He also said that if Indonesia is "strong", then "we can help our brothers and sisters who are oppressed by another regime."

Prabowo said the ongoing attacks against Palestinians should serve as an impetus for Indonesia to strengthen its national power.

Prabowo said a nation's strength depends on its self-reliance.

He said a nation's strength depends on its ability to be self-reliant and that Indonesia must manage, protect and strengthen itself by making effective use of its natural resources.

Prabowo also stressed the importance of learning from history to ensure Indonesia is never colonised again.

"We must be determined never to be colonised again by anyone. We must be strong," he said.

According to the latest figures, Israeli violations of the ceasefire have killed 1,381 Palestinians and wounded 4,757 others since the agreement took effect.

Israel's genocide of Gaza, which began on October 8, 2023, has killed 73,795 Palestinians and injured 174,869 others and destroyed around 90 percent of Gaza's infrastructure.

Meanwhile, three more Palestinians, including the son of Gaza health ministry Director-General Munir al-Bursh, were killed by Israel in the Palestinian enclave on Saturday.

Basir al-Bursh was killed in a strike targeting him in the al-Zahra neighbourhood west of the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza, the source told Anadolu.

Another Palestinian was killed in an Israeli drone strike on the Shujaiya neighbourhood east of Gaza City, the source added.
