A statement circulating with the Turkish Foreign Ministry’s logo and letterhead about Uganda’s military chief is fake, Türkiye’s Centre for Combating Disinformation (DMM) has said.
In a statement on Monday, the DMM said the document, titled “Regarding the Threats of Uganda Chief of Defense Forces Muhoozi Kainerugaba”, was digitally fabricated to mislead the public.
The centre, part of Türkiye’s Communications Directorate, cited confirmation from the Turkish Embassy in Kampala that no such statement had been published on the websites or official communication channels of the ministry or other relevant institutions.
The statement emphasised that the false document had been fabricated using digital means with the aim of misleading the public.
It urged the public not to give credence to such disinformation activities based on fabricated information and fake documents and called on it to follow only the official communication channels of relevant institutions of the Republic of Türkiye for accurate information.
