At least two people were killed and seven others injured as Russia and Ukraine exchanged overnight drone strikes, authorities in both countries said on Monday.
In Russia’s Perm region, a “massive” Ukrainian drone attack killed one person and injured four others, according to regional Governor Dmitry Makhonin.
The strikes also damaged an apartment building, Makhonin said in a statement on Telegram.
In Sevastopol, in Russia-annexed Crimea, another person was killed and three others injured in a Ukrainian drone strike, according to Mikhail Razvozhayev, the Russian-appointed governor.
Razvozhayev said the drone was carrying explosives and metal fragments.
Russia reports hundreds of drones intercepted
Russia’s defence ministry said its air defences intercepted and destroyed 306 Ukrainian drones over Russian territory, Russia-annexed Crimea and the waters of the Azov and Black seas.
Ukraine, meanwhile, said its air defences intercepted 71 Russian drones overnight.
The scale of the reported interceptions underscores the continued reliance by both sides on large-scale drone attacks as the war enters another prolonged phase.
Strike sets Ukrainian shopping centre ablaze
In Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia region, Russian drones struck a shopping centre, triggering a fire but causing no reported casualties, regional Governor Ivan Fedorov said.
Ukraine’s State Emergency Service said firefighters extinguished six separate fires covering a combined area of about 700 square meters.
Around 40 emergency workers were deployed to the scene, according to the service.
The latest attacks come amid continued Russian and Ukrainian strikes far from the front lines, with drones increasingly used to target military, energy and civilian infrastructure.
The casualty and interception figures reported by authorities on both sides could not be independently verified amid the ongoing war.
