A Boeing 767 cargo plane overran a runway at Miami International Airport in Florida, prompting a ground stop for inbound flights as US aviation authorities launched an investigation.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed that 21 Air Flight 7598, a Boeing 767-300 cargo aircraft, overran the runway after landing at around 2 pm local time (1800GMT) on Sunday.
The aircraft had departed from Luis Munoz Marin International Airport in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Early reports indicated that the aircraft veered off the runway and crossed a road near the airport. Images from the scene showed smoke rising near the runway.
The FAA said it would investigate the incident, noting that available information was preliminary and subject to change.
The agency issued a ground stop for inbound flights to Miami International Airport, citing a disabled aircraft and runway and taxiway constraints.
All departures destined for the airport were being held until at or after 4.30 pm local time (2030GMT).
No details were immediately available on injuries or damage.
The National Transportation Safety Board and the airline did not immediately respond to Anadolu's requests for comment.
It remained unclear how many crew members were aboard or what cargo the aircraft was carrying.
The cause of the runway overrun was not immediately known.
